More Possibilities in Computers and IT

Connecticut’s fastest growing career fields

Are you good with your hands, or better with your mind? Do you prefer to work individually or with a team? Do you like to work in an office, or would you prefer to be on-the-road, or even remote? All of these job configurations, and more, are possible with a career in the computer and IT fields.

With over 30 associate in science (A.S.) degrees and certificates in a broad range of computer and technology disciplines, students that desire a career in IT or other computer-related fields can complete foundational work at CT State.

Valuable Training

CT State offers valuable training in current computer science and information technology practices, a path to transfer to a four-year college or university for those wishing to continue their studies, and specific programs that satisfy the requirements to enter directly into a career field. Programs include cybersecurity, cloud computing, data science, networking, programming, mobile programming, IT support, Cisco, software development, software engineering, web development and more.

Computer and Technology Programs Curricula

The curricula in these programs includes a wide range of technology and science choices and a solid core of courses in general education. Successful completion of these programs prepares students for entry-level and second-level positions in the workforce and/or for transfer to a baccalaureate institution to complete a bachelor of science degree. The general education core curriculum in each computer-related degree is an integral part of every CT State program and the specific course options provided will also fulfill the general education requirements of many four-year institutions.

Credit-bearing certificates, which are of a shorter duration than degrees, prepare students to enter directly into the workforce or add to a student’s existing job skills.
